Crackerjack Ambition!

Posted by Sandy Higgins, CEO on 20th Jan 2015

I want to start this post by thanking all of our friends and family for all of the emails, text messages, telephone calls, and visits we have received yesterday and today.  As we embark on this amazing new adventure with our Springfield store, I am humbled by you.  I also appreciate your patience as we get settled into our routines here.  You know how it goes....just when you think you can print out that order, the printer won't communicate with the computer; then the telephone lines go down, then the air conditioner gives out (it was over 80 degrees in here yesterday, but we had a good time sweatin' and laughin'!  LOL)  Although these little setbacks are frustrating at the time, they are all just bumps in the road, and a reminder not to take yourself too seriously.

As you can imagine, it takes a lot of effort on the part of a lot of people to make something like this come together, so I have to give a big pat on the back to our tireless (and patient) staff members, our supportive customers, and also our wonderful friends who came to help us out at a moment's notice at various times throughout this project.

My daughter and I went out for a girl's night last night, and as we were leaving the restaurant, I picked up a fortune cookie.  Here is what I found in my fortune.

"Ambition knows no obstacles."

My dad often tells me that even as a child, I never would take "no" for an answer.  I was always trying to figure out how to make that "no" morph into at least a "maybe."  (Hey, a girl's gotta try!!)  Not much has changed about me since then!  I've made a lot of mistakes, but I've figured out that the secret to success is that there is NO SECRET!  It's all about working very hard, enjoying what you do, honoring God and your values, elevating and edifying those around you, and never losing your ambition!  Success is a state of mind, not a balance in your checkbook or a stack of names in your Rolodex.

As I often do, I'm taping that little slip of paper from my fortune cookie to my laptop so I can remind myself of this every day!  Keep at it!  Dream big dreams that help other people dream big dreams...and NEVER give up!
