The Crackerjack Shack Fix for that Annoying Hole in the Armpit of Your Favorite T-shirt

The Crackerjack Shack Fix for that Annoying Hole in the Armpit of Your Favorite T-shirt

You get home from work and all you can think about is changing into your favorite screen printed t-shirt and sweats. You get to your closet and pull your t-shirt over your head only to find that the armpit hole fairy has struck again!  It doesn't matter if it's a great brand like Gildan, Canvas, or even Nike - what a nuisance! Because of the way seams are stitched in t-shirts, wearing your favorite t-shirt over and over again is a recipe for a hole in the armpit - especially if you are active or if you put stress on the seams when you put it over your head. It happens to the best of us, even Ryan Gosling!

Here are 8 easy steps to fixing that annoying hole in the armpit of your favorite, most-worn t-shirts.

1.) Find a needle and thread. (The closer the thread matches the shirt the less noticeable the repair will be).

2.) Thread your needle, make the thread a few inches longer than the hole, and place a knot at the end of your thread.

3.)Turn your shirt inside out. Hold the edges of the hole together so the material puckers slightly inward rather than the outside of the shirt.

4.) Position the needle to whatever side you are handed. Ex: If you are right-handed, start on the right side.

5.) Push the needle through the fabric and pull the thread through until it stops at the knot you tied.

6.) Using that same form, keep sewing back and forth across the hole until the entire hole has been sewn together. You will want to keep as close to the hole as possible to prevent altering the t-shirt.

7.) Complete the last stitch as you normally would, but don't pull the stitch taut. Instead, leave a loop of thread. Bring the needle back up toward you as close to the entry point of the stitch as possible. Pull the needle gently through the loop of thread until a snug knot is formed. Repeat the loop stitch at least one more time for extra stability.

8.) Trim any loose threads.

Follow these 8 simple rules and you will have fought off the armpit hole fairy!

Have a safe, warm day!
